Performance Index Rating (PIR)
A third party's Performance Index Rating (PIR) measures a third party's overall performance across sites. You can use PIR to get a general sense of how a third party tends to perform. However, a third party may perform better or worse on your site than it does generally.
PIR is calculated by adding the total page delay violations and performance risk violations caused by the third party and dividing that number by the total number of resources loaded by the third party across Yottaa sites. The data refreshes weekly and includes the last two weeks of performance information.
The third party then receives a rating based on its PIR score. The thresholds for each rating change on a yearly basis. The thresholds for 2022 are as follows:
|Consistent negative impact on performance. PIR score of 151 or above.|
|Inconsistent negative impact on performance. PIR score between 16 and 150.|
Little to no impact on performance. PIR score of 15 or below.
When evaluating a third party, also check the category. Some types of third parties, like personalization or reviews, tend to be resource-intensive because of the type of service they provide. Because of this, those categories typically have a poor PIR rating.

Third parties also receive ratings in the yearly PIR report distributed by Yottaa. These ratings are based on a two-week snapshot of each third party. Because a third party's performance may change over the course of the year, check the Yottaa portal for the most up-to-date information about each third party.
